WELCOME: We’ll check you in at Jesup Green in Downtown Westport CT along the Saugatuck River after 9:00 AM. We’ll have a boxed breakfast and a special June Day gift for you. This year we are partnering with Westport Sunrise Rotary and there will be activities for the kids and a giant yellow duck! This year for the first time we will have a non-profit marketplace featuring artisans. There will be a brief ceremony at 10:30 AM.
The rest of your day is yours. We have a few ideas….
Soccer: The UN Team will face off against the Westport Knights at 11:30 at Saugatuck Elementary School (1/2 mile from check in). Contact Brock Hotaling at bhotaling@assured-it.com for more information.
Tennis courts have been set aside for you and some local hosts. Bring your own racket. Our volunteers will set up the games from 11:15 – 4:00 at Longshore Club Park. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Contact Brock Hotaling at bhotaling@assured-it.com for more information.
Golf is available for experienced golfers at the Longshore Golf Club, one of New England’s best courses. Meet at Longshore Club House at 12:30 for lunch and a start time at 1:30. (Greens fees and cart rentals are extra). There will be golf prizes. Contact Bill Hass at 203-454-7685, 203-434-6609 or hassbj@aol.com. longshoregolfcourse.com
Earthplace: an optional bus will leave from Jesup Green for a special tour of Earthplace at 11:15. You can also drive there on your own. Our nature center is always a favorite with our June Day guests.
The Duck Race: Westport Sunrise Rotary will have its annual Duck Race at Jesup Green at 1:00 PM and our June Day guests are invited! There are activities in the morning for kids, including a Makerspace, arts and crafts, and of course the Duck Race. You can have a duck in the race too by purchasing a duck raffle ticket. The “fastest” ducks win cash prizes. Click here to purchase a duck. (all proceeds go to charity)
Wakeman Town Farm: a bus will leave from Jesup Green to the Farm at 1:45. You can also drive there. The farm is a model of sustainability and there are lots of animals for kids to meet, including alpacas, goats and chickens. wakemantownfarm.org
Compo Beach is a destination in itself with a great playground, snack bar and lifeguarded beach. For non-residents, the weekend daily pass is $70 – but we have free access for you today. You can pick up your parking pass at registration.
Town Pool: Westport’s three pools on Long Island Sound are available to visitors today. The pools are located near the tennis courts.
Downtown Westport is filled with shopping and restaurants. Visit the Westport Museum of History too. https://westporthistory.org/
